The Jeypore School for Alternative Education believes in equipping students with life skills through alternative learning. We encourage a learning environment that develops psychological, physical, cognitive, and social well-being as well as growth. It is helpful for students whose growth or well-being are impeded in a conventional classroom setting. Diversity is at the core for increasing awareness, and embracing individual differences like personality, and learning ability. Hence, we aim to provide diversity in learning through improved content knowledge, cognitive sophistication, and empathic understanding of the complex methods with which individuals interact within systems and institutions. We expand academic diversity to a level where equity, inclusion and competency are the basis to nurture our next generation.
Mrs. Mala Khaitan embarked on an extraordinary journey of education that began 25 years ago. Today her vision is taking a new shape with The Jeypore School. In her words, “passion and vision of providing a new and relevant education system that has a lasting impact are being created through this school. I feel a sense of responsibility to ensure that learning and equity prevail as that is what enables individuals, families and societies to thrive. With the ease of tools available to us now, it has never been more important for all of us to get smart and design more learner-centric education.”
Mrs. P.N. Kavoori is the founder of Disha- A Resource Centre for Multiple Disabilities. Previously through her career of 45-50 years in mainstream education, she ran MSMSV School for 13 years. Working with children with learning disabilities made her realise their brilliance and today her dream of nurturing children with learning disabilities is alive through The Jeypore School. She believes that every child deserves an extraordinary learning experience for a purposeful life. This motto of hers is what drives The Jeypore school to make learning personalised and relevant to each student so that they connect to it deeply and have a meaningful experience
Ms. Rainu Singh, Executive Director of Disha, currently leads the organisation and has three decades of experience in working for various social issues. She was also appointed Commissioner of Disabilities by the Government of Rajasthan, and her experience has brought Disha to an institute with great repute.
Bhawna Pandey is the Coordinator of Education and Resources at Disha. As a Mother of a child with special needs, her experience helps her create an inclusive and special curriculum that provides an Individualised Education Plan (IEP) for children with special needs. She holds a Master's in Education and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Special Education (Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Autism). She is former broadcast journalist, published writer/translator, curriculum designer, data analyst and a certified CSR professional with a combined experience of over two decades.
